Wheelchair Accessible Housing

The wheelchair accessible housing program provides well maintained, affordable housing for those individuals requiring wheelchair accessible accommodation.  The Saskatoon Housing Authority offers a combination of housing and services to help individuals maintain their independence.  No pets are allowed.

The Saskatoon Housing Authority manages three types of wheelchair accessible housing:

Income-based rent

  • For low-income households where rent is graduated based on income—rent is approximately 29% of gross monthly income.
  • Priority given to applicants with greatest need based on income, current shelter costs, current housing conditions, and whether current housing conditions aggravate a health problem or are unsuitable because of a disability.

Fixed rent

  • For households that do not require a subsidy—rents are a fixed rental rate slightly below the average market rent and are not based on income.
  • Maximum income limit for singles and couples without dependents is $44,500 per year to qualify.

Life-Interest lease

  • For moderate-income households where there is security of tenure similar to homeownership but without the responsibilities of maintenance and upkeep.
