Tenant Information
Are you a resident in a Saskatoon Housing Authority unit? This section has information on your opportunities and obligations as a tenant.
What do I do if my income changes?
You will be required to provide written confirmation of the change. Rents are based on income; therefore, your rent may change if your income changes. All changes, both increases and decreases, in your monthly gross family income must be reported to the Saskatoon Housing Authority immediately. We will determine whether the change in income will affect your rent.
Rent reductions will not be made retroactive under any circumstances. If you fail to report a change in income which increases your rent, you will be charged “back rent", back to the date the increase would have been charged if proper notification had been received.
What do I do if I want to transfer to another SHA unit?
To qualify for a transfer you must be a tenant for one year and no history of damage to the unit or disturbing the neighbours. To apply for a transfer you need to give us a written request including the reasons why and where you would like to move to. An appointment is made for a unit inspection. Approved requests are placed at the end of the wait list, unless priority or urgent status has been granted.
What do I do if I want to move out?
You need to give us your written notice to vacate no later than the last day in the month and vacate no later than the last day of the following month.
